About Your Next Job

SGMA is ready for real-world clinical and research use and the next version of our platform needs to match that ambition. You’ll join a small technical team building the infrastructure that brings SGMA to clinicians and researchers around the world.

In this role, you will design, build and ship the next generation of our clinical platform. You’ll work across the full stack, contribute to API architecture, and help establish the data infrastructure and clinical system integrations that will underpin Precision Cognition Labs’ growth. You’ll work closely with the Head of Technology and in direct contact with the scientific team.

About Your Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Design, build and validate new versions of the clinical platform, from requirements to release.
  • Contribute to API architecture and the modernisation of the technical infrastructure.
  • Set up and maintain data infrastructure, analytics, and governance frameworks.
  • Build integrations with clinical systems and EHR platforms.
  • Implement data governance, traceability and auditability in line with regulatory requirements.
  • Own the feedback loop with clinical partners: collecting, triaging, and prioritising input.

About Your Skills and Experience

Your profile

  • 3+ years of full-stack development experience.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Software Engineering, AI, or a related field – or equivalent experience.
  • Solid experience with Java and Sprint Boot, comfort with modern frontend frameworks (React or Angular).
  • Strong command of PostgreSQL and experience designing schemas for data-intensive applications.
  • Familiarity with containerised deployments (Docker/Kubernetes).
  • Experience with REST API design and development.
  • Exposure to regulated or clinical software environments is a plus. What matters most is genuine curiosity about the problem you're solving and a desire to understand why you're building what you're building.

Personal strengths

  • Hands-on and pragmatic: you ship working solutions without waiting for perfect specifications.
  • Broad and curious: you don’t shy away from unfamiliar territory.
  • Strong sense of ownership: you follow a feature from idea to delivery.
  • Able to collaborate effectively with non-technical colleagues: researchers, clinicians, and operations.

Tech stack

  • Backend: Java / Spring Boot, REST APIs
  • Database: PostgreSQL
  • Infrastructure: Kubernetes (k8s)
  • Frontend: React or Angular, TypeScript, HTML5/CSS

Where Molecules Meet Opportunities

What Precision Cognition Labs offers

  • Broad technical role with direct impact on a clinically relevant product.
  • Collaboration with an international scientific team.
  • A competitive salary and a flexible and collaborative work environment
  • 32-40 hours per week, hybrid working (minimum 2 days in Groningen).

About Precision Cognition Labs  Precision Cognition Labs is building a digital biomarker for memory: the SGMA. This adaptive online test enables clinicians and researchers to detect and track cognitive decline earlier, more objectively and at scale.

Cognitive assessment traditionally takes place in clinical settings, giving clinicians a snapshot, not a trajectory. SGMA changes that. By measuring forgetting rate through an adaptive algorithm, it generates a continuous, objective signal of cognitive functioning, trackable over time and without learning effects.

SGMA was developed at the University of Groningen and University of Washington (Seattle) and validated across diverse populations and clinical contexts, in collaboration with leading research institutions like UMCG, LMU Munich, Alzheimer Disease Research Center, and Netherlands Cancer Institute.
